This series originally aired in Japan in 1999 before a hard reboot in 2011 that only hit English airwaves in 2016. As such, it is at the forefront of many anime fans’ minds and is one of the most prominent shounen anime right now.

  3. Attack on Titan is a Japanese dark fantasy anime television series based on Hajime Isayama's manga of the same name, which aired on April 7, 2013. It is broadcast on NHK General TV in Japan and Aniplus Asia in a number of Asia-Pacific countries. The series has been streamed on Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu in the United States and Canada, in addition to broadcasting on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block.

Few things in shounen anime are as terrifying as the titan beasts seen in Attack On Titan. These monstrosities are at the root of most of the series' conflict, and the devastation they are capable of inflicting on the Shiganshina District's residents is demonstrated right from the start. There's a lot more to these giants than meets the eye, as their mysteries steadily emerge over the course of the series 75 episodes. Attack on Titan is a drama that blurs the borders between good and evil, leaving fans anticipating the series conclusion with bated breath. The second half and final 16 episodes of Attack On Titan will run in January 2022, with Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and the rest of the heroes hoping to finally put their animosity to bed.

  4. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a Japanese anime television series based on Hiromu Arakawa's original Fullmetal Alchemist manga series. The series is directed by Yasuhiro Irie, written by Hiroshi nogi, and music by Akira Senju, and is produced by Bones. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the second anime television series based on the manga, following Fullmetal Alchemist in 2003. Unlike the last adaptation, Brotherhood is a faithful adaptation that follows the original manga's complete narrative. From April 2009 to July 2010, the series aired 64 episodes on MBS–TBS.

It should be noted that Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, published in 2009, is a complete replica of the manga rather than an extension of the original Fullmetal Alchemist from 2003. The latter had a 64-episode run (as opposed to the former's 51-episode run) and several artistic distinctions.

Brotherhood follows Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric on their endeavor to repair their shattered bodies after an alchemical effort to resurrect their mother fails. Brotherhood is also far more loyal to the original material, even to the extent of having distinct principal adversaries in both series.

  5. "Naruto - Kapuden" (Naruto Shippuden) is a television anime based on the manga "Naruto" and a sequel to the earlier work "Naruto". While the original Naruto series included 220 episodes of manga material, Naruto: Shippuden vastly expands on the source material by adding an extra 500 episodes. Shippuden takes place three years after Naruto leaves to train with Jiraiya, and as a result, the power levels of the majority of the people involved have skyrocketed.

This allows the series to showcase far more lavish confrontations with tremendous abilities, notably against the Akatsuki, the series' major threat. Because Shippuden enables many of the core characters to develop deeper and attain satisfactory resolutions to their character arcs, it's no surprise that this series is so popular among fans.

  8. Tsugumi Ohba's Death Note is a Japanese manga series written and drawn by Takeshi Obata. The plot revolves around Light Yagami, an adolescent genius who stumbles into a mysterious notebook: the "Death Note", which belonged to the Shinigami Ryuk and provides the user the extraordinary ability to murder anybody whose name is inscribed in its pages. The series follows Light's subsequent attempts to use the Death Note to carry out a worldwide massacre of individuals he considers immoral in order to create a crime-free society under the alias of a god-like vigilante named "Kira", and the subsequent efforts of an elite Japanese police task force led by enigmatic detective L to apprehend him.

Death Note revolves around the juvenile genius Light Yagami and his discovery of the notorious "Death Note" book. This book permits its owner to murder anybody as long as the author knows both the victim's face and name. Light's vigilante activities catch the attention of local authorities, most notably investigator L, complicating his struggle against Japan's criminals. While 37 episodes may appear to be a little number in contrast to other entries on this list, Death Note manages to weave a highly gripping tale and is one of the finest single-season anime series ever.
