Dodoma is one of Tanzania's most beautiful coastal towns. Tanzania's government announced in 1974 that the capital would be relocated to Dodoma for social and economic reasons, as well as to centralize the capital within the country. Much of the original design was not realized for a long time. Kigoma is a town and lake port in Tanzania's Kigoma-Ujiji District, on the northeastern shores of Lake Tanganyika and near the borders with Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Iringa is a Tanzanian town with a population of 151,345 people. The name is derived from the Hehe word living, which means "fortification." It serves as the administrative center of the Iringa Region. Due to its geographical location, Iringa has been one of Tanzania's coldest regions, but this has attracted a large number of tourists from colder regions abroad, particularly Western Europe. Bagamoyo is a historic coastal town that was founded at the end of the 18th century as an extension of a much older Swahili settlement, Kaole. Arusha is one of Tanzania's most beautiful coastal towns. It has a relatively mild climate due to its location next to Mount Tanzania on the eastern edge of the Great Rift Valley.
