90 Day Fiancé (2014-present)

90 Day Fiance is a TLC reality television series that follows couples who have applied for or received a K-1 visa, which is only available to foreign fiancés of US citizens, and thus have 90 days to marry. The show premiered on January 12, 2014, and has lasted nine seasons. The series has eighteen spin-offs, including 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, which follows past 90 Day Fiancé couples after their marriage; 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, which follows couples who met online but have not yet started the K-1 visa process; and 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, which follows couples who met online but have not yet started the K-1 visa process. TLC parent company Warner Bros. Discovery and others refer to the original series and its spinoffs as the "90 Day Fiancé Universe" or simply the "90 Day Universe."

The show is based on the K-1 visa application process. This visa allows a foreign fiancé to visit the United States and live with his or her prospective American spouse. The K-1 Visa is intended to give the couple enough time to plan their wedding and ceremony. As part of the visa application process, each couple must sign documents stating their intention to marry. If the couple does not marry within 90 days, the beneficiary is required to leave the country (and the US citizen may be required to travel to the beneficiary's home country). Language barriers, culture shock, the stigma of being a "mail-order bride," and skepticism from friends and family are all possibilities for the couple.
