The Circle (2020-present)

The Circle (sometimes referred to as The Circle US) to distinguish it from other international versions) is an American reality competition series created by Studio Lambert and Motion Content Group that premiered on Netflix in January 2020? It is based on the British television series of the same name. In addition to the American version of The Circle, Netflix released versions in France and Brazil as part of a partnership between Netflix and All3Media. The series bills itself as a social media game, with the idea that "anyone can be anyone in The Circle." They can only communicate virtually through a social media device known as... well...The Circle.

To win $100,000, contestants must first gain their opponents' trust and approval and become the highest-rated player. As each player attempts to ascend to the top, alliances form. The only catch is that the participants are not required to portray themselves truthfully. They can catfish and lie their way to the top of the rankings and, eventually, $100,000. Its format has been compared to Big Brother and Catfish as well as the Black Mirror episode "Nosedive" with the rating concept. In August 2021, the series was renewed for a fourth and fifth season, the fourth season began on May 4, 2022, and ended on May 25, 2022. The Circle Singles, the fifth season, premiered on December 28, 2022.
