Aarhus University is a long-standing institution with nearly a century of history. It has built a reputation as a world-leading research institution since 1928, as evidenced by its consistent placement in the top 100 of numerous rankings. AU has grown into a dynamic and multinational institution over the years. Aarhus University was recently placed 69th in the Shanghai rankings, while in terms of internationalization, it is ranked first, at no. 45 on Times Higher Education's "Most International Universities in the World" list.
International students make up about 12% of Aarhus University's student body, with over 120 countries represented! They also have a large number of international researchers across all faculties, and all of their PhD programs are taught entirely in English. They are delighted to provide over 50 English-taught courses at the bachelor's and master's levels. At AU, English is truly their second language. They also have a specialized International Centre that may offer advice and support on a variety of matters. The largest research-based university in Denmark, Aarhus University is a countrywide institution with three campuses in Aarhus, Emdrup, and Herning. Many of the professors are also active researchers, therefore classes at AU are based on current research topics. This provides students with the most up-to-date research and assures a high grade of instruction.
Aarhus University's teaching environment is laid-back and collaborative. They intend to motivate students through informal classroom discussions and debates, with their lecturers emphasizing the importance of student input. This promotes the growth of critical thinking abilities. Many of the courses are interdisciplinary, with the goal of providing a more comprehensive understanding of the subject and expanding career opportunities. Aarhus University has five main faculties with around 38.000 students and 8000 employees: Arts, Business and Social Sciences, Health, Natural Sciences, and Technical Sciences.
Students are welcome to access the cutting-edge research facilities in each faculty. Each faculty has a strong focus on current concerns and is highly specialized. The Natural and Technical Sciences faculties, for example, are currently focusing on sustainability and promoting a green transition.
