Copenhagen Business School (CBS)
Copenhagen Business School's 23,000 students study economics, languages, communication, politics, and more, all with a business and industry concentration, and are located in the affluent Frederiksberg district. CBS began awarding accounting degrees in 1920 after being founded in 1912 by the Danish Society for the Advancement of Business Education.
Its well-known main campus, Solbjerg Plads, was designed by Danish architect Henning Larsen and is representative of Scandinavian architecture. Its other structures are strewn across the city, all within walking distance of one another.
CBS offers a wide range of part-time programs and courses. There are 2-year executive master's degrees and 4-year diplomas available, as well as a summer university and short courses. The institution claims that its teaching strives to instill lifelong learning and leadership growth in executives, professionals, and organizations. It also has a separate commercial foundation, CBS Executive, that offers specialized executive development programs.
It also takes pride in having close ties with the business community. For example, KPMG, Google, Deloitte, and Maersk are among its partners, and its president reports to a board of directors comprised of corporate leaders as well as an academic council.
The university encourages interdisciplinary collaboration through its "Business in Society Platforms", which focus on sustainability, public-private partnerships, competitiveness, entrepreneurship, and marine concerns. It also promotes an international perspective by offering 200 English-language courses and having exchange relationships with other colleges. With more than 177,000 e-books and 44,87 online journals, CBS' 700-seater library can accommodate up to one million visitors every year. The institution is also moving away from physical collections and toward digital, with more than 177,000 e-books and 44,87 online journals. The school takes pride in updating computers every third year at the very least.
