Aftershock
The terrible earthquake in Tangshan (China) in 1976 lasted only 23 seconds, yet it impacted the lives of mother Li and daughter Fang Deng for the next 32 years. In Aftershock, the mother tormented herself for 32 years since she couldn't save both of her children. Besides, the girl grew up with deep hurt, recalling her mother's words: "Save my boy not this girl". A severe earthquake separated them for 32 years, and another tragic earthquake pulls them back together when Fang Deng returns to her hometown to assist others in need as she experienced. It was at this time that she was able to comprehend what she had gone through in the past, set aside the grief, and forgive her mother in order to return to her family.
This is a moving film that may make viewers cry when the performers cry and comprehend the anguish that the characters must through. The success of Aftershock is attributed to the excellent performance of well-known actors.
