Romang
Romang begins with a cheerful vision of a three-generation family, with the elderly couple Cho Nam Bong (Lee Soon Jae) and Mae Ja (Jung Young Sook) always working hard and taking care of the young people on a daily basis. Every day, Mrs. Mae Ja is always devoted to her husband and children. However, an incident occurred is that when Mr. Cho Nam Bong and Mrs. Mae Ja were no longer conscious enough to remember anything. They suddenly became a burden to their children, and the family decided to place their mother, grandmother Mae Ja in a nursing facility. Fortunately, her husband, who had spent more than half of her life with her, recognized that life without Mae Ja would be worthless so he take her home.
Romang exploits the tale of contemporary society, which is happening not only in Korea but probably elsewhere when the elderly are confronted with the sickness of memory loss and progressively retreat from life. Without grandiose scenes or major tales, Romang concentrates on the character's psychological growth, eliciting feelings and sympathy from the audience while discussing husband and wife, motherly love.
