American Collegiate Institute
The American Collegiate Institute (ACI), founded in 1878, deserved to be ranked first among the best IB schools in Turkey. Accredited by the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) since 1994 and continuously by the Council of International Schools (CIS) since 2003, ACI proudly holds the distinction of being one of Turkey's few schools with such esteemed recognition.
With a current student body of over 800, ACI conducts classes in both English and Turkish. The faculty is a blend of 80% Turkish educators, many proficient in English, and 20% international faculty from the USA, Canada, and Europe, all certified in their home countries.
Following the preparatory phase, the American Collegiate Institute integrates the Turkish Ministry of Education's grades 9–12. A distinctive aspect of ACI is the option for students to embrace the International Baccalaureate Programme (IBDP) in grade 11, making ACI the first high school in the Aegean region with IBDP authorization.
At ACI, the "1+4" high school program is a unique feature. The "1+" phase is a preparatory year aimed at students with varying English proficiency. Small class sizes capped at 20 foster an intensive language learning environment, helping students transition from beginner to advanced levels in preparation for the four-year high school program.
The American Collegiate Institute also prides itself on a vibrant extracurricular scene, including sports, clubs, and a robust service-learning program that meets the International Baccalaureate Organization's (IBO) CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) requirement.
