Terakki Foundation Schools
The Terakki Foundation Schools, established in 1877 with Mekteb-i Terakki (Terakki School) in Salonika, set the stage for modern education. From the start, they embraced Western-style learning, laying the foundation for today's schooling.
"Terakki," Ottoman Turkish for "progress," encapsulates the school's essence. Over time, Terakki Foundation Schools have been synonymous with progress, modern education, and educational reform.
In 2013, the high schools at Levent Campus joined the IB World Schools, followed by Tepeören Campus in 2018. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, renowned for high standards, seamlessly integrates with Terakki's vision, offering diverse subjects. This program immerses students in Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity-Action-Service, providing practical experiences beyond textbooks.
Kindergarten and primary schools at Levent Campus also became a part of IB World Schools in 2014, with Tepeören Campus following suit in 2019. Here, the focus is on the student-centered Primary Years Program, rooted in inquiry-based learning.
