American University of Central Asia
The American University of Central Asia ranks first among the best universities in Kyrgyzstan. It is also formerly known as the Kyrgyz-American School and the American University of Kyrgyzstan, a liberal arts university in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan's capital. The former main building of the American University of Central Asia was built in the 1930s and was used by the Communist Party of the Kirghiz SSR's Central Committee and the republic's Supreme Council. The new structure is four floors tall and is focused on a forum that serves as the major gathering spot. To lessen its environmental impact, the main building incorporates geothermal heating and rainwater collecting. Henry Myerberg, a New York-based architect, designed the structure, which was completed in 2015.
To prepare pupils for university study, the university provides both full-time and part-time programs. A rigorous English language course and university-level academic classes are included in the programs. The AUCA Library supports teaching, learning, and research by providing information resources and services. The library's print collection of books, textbooks, manuscripts, and other materials numbers around 60,000 pieces. There are 24 online databases available at the library. In 2006, the AUCA Library teamed with the Kyrgyz Libraries Information Consortium to launch Open Access in Kyrgyzstan. The Electronic Archive program's pilot university was the American University of Central Asia. The library now provides free access to 21 distinct materials, all of which are featured on the website.
