Montgomery, Sir Anderson Everton Roberts (born 29 January 1951) is the father of modern West Indian fast bowling. Roberts represented the West Indies in Test cricket twice, capturing seven wickets in a single innings. He played first-class cricket for Hampshire County Cricket Club and then Leicestershire County Cricket Club after moving to England in 1972.
Roberts was the first Antiguan to play Test cricket for the West Indies, pave the way for a generation of great Antiguans such as Viv Richards, Richie Richardson, and Curtly Ambrose. Roberts was inducted into the United States Cricket Hall of Fame in October 2005, making him the second Antiguan to do so. Roberts was elected into the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009.
In cricket, his fastest delivery was 159.5 kph against Australia in Perth in 1975. The West Indies team was thought to be unbeatable in his presence. He was regarded as one of the world's most dangerous fast bowlers.
