Arjuna Award in 1994
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India presents the Arjuna Awards to honor great success in sports. The award, which was established in 1961, comes with a monetary reward of $5,000, a bronze Arjuna star, and a scroll.
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar received the Arjuna Award in 1994 for his exceptional sporting achievements. Sachin Tendulkar had already established himself in the Indian squad and was regarded as one of the top players in the world at the age of 21.
In 1994, the Indian government recognized this by awarding him the Arjuna Award. He is the only batsman to reach 100 international centuries and the first to record a double century in a One-Day International. In international cricket, he is the only player to score more than 30,000 runs, becoming the 16th player, and the first Indian, to score 50,000 runs in all forms of local and international cricket.
