ICC Player of the Year – Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy
At the age of 37, Tendulkar was defying the odds and scoring runs at a torrential rate. Sachin Tendulkar was awarded Cricketer of the Year at the 2010 ICC Honor event in Bangalore, winning his first ICC award, the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy. Tendulkar, on the other hand, came up short in the other main categories, with Virender Sehwag taking home the Test Cricketer of the Year title and AB de Villiers taking home the ODI trophy.
Tendulkar, who also earned the People's Choice Award, remarked, "This last season has been particularly remarkable for the entire squad." "I believe that right from the start of the season, when we won in Sri Lanka and I got a century in the finals, the season went off for us." We achieved our goal of being No. 1 in the Test rankings, and we've been able to sustain our results throughout the previous 10 months."
Tendulkar was up against Virender Sehwag, Hashim Amla, and Graeme Swann, the other Cricketer of the Year contenders. Rahul Dravid, Andrew Flintoff, Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, and Mitchell Johnson are among the previous recipients of the Cricketer of the Year award.
