Artisan
Artisan is one of London's best cafés. Despite being on a busy west London crossroads, the view from this spacious corner room was rather pleasant, with plenty of sunshine and sky. The vista will ultimately be partially obscured by residential construction, but that doesn't mean you should avoid Artisan. This is a remarkably enjoyable spot to dine, drink, and pass the time. Children are quite welcome, and the customer appears to be entirely local, whether they are dining alone or in small groups of any age. Beans from Allpress are utilized to great success.
You wouldn't know you were in Stamford Brook rather than Allpress's headquarters in Shoreditch if you closed your eyes and sipped a properly crafted espresso. The area has a very inviting appearance and feels thanks to the huge windows on both sides, the high ceilings, and the comfortable furnishings (many homemade). The menu comprises of tasty sandwiches and appealing baked goods, with a focus on cakes. There may be one more branch, according to the owners (the first is in Putney), but this is it. Oh well. A local artist would be beneficial to any community.
