Australian Flathead Perch
The Australian Flathead Perch is a fascinating species. It has an unusual shape and a vibrant color pattern. They have a brownish/orange body with prominent blue lines running the length of them.
They also have an unusual circle on their back. It has the appearance of a peacock feather. They reach about three inches in length and are distinguished by their flat head. Only a few times have they been successfully bred in captivity.
Their natural habitat is along Australia's southern coast (remember, due to the hemisphere switch, their southern is our northern) at depths ranging from 400 feet to 600 feet. Their standard price is 4,000 USD.
These are predators, but the flathead is relatively small. So they'll be fine with the right kinds of other fish. Keep in mind that perch are aggressive fish, so if it is larger than or roughly the same size as the other fish in your tank, there will be problems.
