Babe
Babe (working title: Babe the Sheep-Pig) is a 1995 comedy-drama film directed by Chris Noonan, produced by George Miller, and written by both of them. At a country fair, gentle farmer Arthur Hoggett wins a piglet named Babe. Babe bonds with motherly border collie Fly and find that he can herd sheep as well, almost avoiding his fate as Christmas dinner when Farmer Hoggett chooses to display him at the next fair. The other farm animals, including Fly's envious husband, Rex, however, are willing to tolerate a pig who does not fit within the farm's social system?
Babe was shot in Robertson, New South Wales, in 1994 and premiered in theaters on August 4, 1995. The movie was a box office hit, grossing $36.7 million in Australia and more than $254 million worldwide. It also received positive reviews and was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for James Cromwell, Best Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published, Best Art Direction and Best Film Editing, winning Best Visual Effects.
