Despicable Me
Despicable Me is a computer-animated comedy film released in 2010 by Universal Pictures and produced by Illumination Entertainment. The film is directed by Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin (in their directorial debut) from a screenplay by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio based on a story by Sergio Pablos. The film follows Gru, a supervillain who adopts three orphaned children called Margo, Edith, and Agnes while attempting to steal a shrink ray from his competitor Vector in order to shrink and steal the Moon.
The film received positive reviews and grossed $543.1 million globally, making it the ninth highest-grossing film of 2010. It received Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Annie Award nominations for Best Animated Feature Film. Despicable Me is the first film in the Despicable Me franchise, which comprises three sequels: Despicable Me 2 (2013), Minions (2015), and Despicable Me 3 (2016). (2017). In 2022, Minions: The Rise of Gru will be released.
