Bodiam Castle, East Sussex
The 14th-century Bodiam Castle, located in the picturesque countryside of East Sussex, is unquestionably one of England's many remaining castles and one of the most charming. This medieval castle dominates the surrounding area with its imposing towers and sturdy walls, much of which may be explored and climbed, opening up amazing views over the River Rother region despite the inside being partially in ruins.
On-site activities for kids include playing real medieval-era games, dressing up in period costumes, and engaging in active, hands-on learning experiences. The visitor center at the castle serves a range of snacks and drinks, including a delicious cream tea. When you're done, be sure to visit Ewhurst Green, which is home to one of South East England's most attractive churches. Additionally, if you want to make a day of it, think about taking the enjoyable steam train excursion from neighboring Tenterden.
