Windsor Castle, Berkshire

Windsor Castle, the crown gem of English castles, is a must-see attraction. This magnificent structure, which is the oldest continuously occupied royal palace in the world, dates all the way back to the 11th century, when William the Conqueror selected it as the site of a castle.

Many kings and queens have lived there since then, and today it serves as the British Royal Family's vacation home. Many interesting areas are accessible to castle visitors. The opulent State Apartments, which house the magnificent Queen's Gallery and the dining hall with its magnificent woodcarvings and beautifully painted ceilings, are at the top of most people's lists. The State Apartments are a collection of opulently furnished formal rooms that are still sometimes used for official and state occasions. Numerous priceless pieces of art made by well-known artists including Canaletto, Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, and Van Dyck are present. Don't forget to plan a trip to go around the castle grounds. On the south side of the castle, a stunning six-mile-long green park known as the Great Park. There are guided tours of the castle's courtyards available.
