Bremerhaven
Bremerhaven, sometimes known as Bremen's port, is a bustling port city. Its status as the largest city in the North Sea and the most significant port in Europe, where, in addition to fishing, ongoing naval activity takes place, is not in vain. It was one of the cities decimated during World War II and the starting point for German immigrants to America. The promenade, the Museum of the Port, the Radar Tower, and the Zoological Park of the Sea are all worth seeing at Havenwelten, the port area.
Bremerhaven was initially intended to serve as a seaport for Bremen, a Hanseatic city 60 kilometers upriver, but it quickly expanded to become a city unto itself with a significant port for fishing and international shipping. Thousands of people formerly boarded enormous ships here in search of better living in the United States and South America. Today's visitors to the city, however, frequently express a desire to stay. Few other locations in the world can rival the superb fusion of marine flair, culture, gastronomy, and one-of-a-kind boutiques that can be found here.
