Café Soma
The bright and airy environment of Café Soma, along with its wooden flooring and enormous, full bookcases along its walls, lends the venue a bohemian, European vibe. Café Soma, which was rebuilt in October 2013, offers a peaceful and calm escape from Kathmandu's hectic streets.
The kitchen prepares a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and burgers with a Nepali touch and serves them with a cup of chiya, a typical Nepali spiced tea comparable to Indian chai. On its grounds, the café also hosts monthly exhibitions of the work of local artists. Freezing Moments, a series of portraits by Nepalese photographer Ravin Man Bajracharya, and a presentation of works by members of the photo circle, an online platform encouraging new photography in Nepal, were two recent exhibitions.
