Call of Duty
Call of Duty is a series of first-person shooter games.
This series of games started on the version for personal computers (PC) and was later expanded to consoles and handhelds. Several expansions were also released in addition to the main titles. Much of the content of the series focuses on the theme of World War II and from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Call of Duty 6) onward is set in modern context. Later Call Of Duty games published and owned by Activision were developed mainly by three studios: Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games. In addition, expansions or spin-offs for other systems such as the Wii or Nintendo DS are developed by studios Gray Matter Interactive, Spark Unlimited, P1, Amaze Entertainment, Rebelling Development and n-space. There are quite a few graphics engines used in the game including ID Tech, Treyarch NGL and IW. Other exclusives include memorabilia designed by Plan-B Toys, a card game produced by Upper Deck and a comic book published by Wild Storm. As of November 27, 2009, the total number of copies of the Call Of Duty series worldwide was 55 million, grossing $3 billion at retail.
