Can you give me an example of a time when you exceeded expectations?
It is not necessary for your response to be specific to the position for which you are interviewing. The purpose of this question is to help the interviewer determine whether you are the kind of person who goes above and beyond, or if you simply perform what is asked of you without questioning whether you can do it better. Describe an instance where you were given a very specific objective to guarantee that you impressed the interviewer. Finally, describe how you took advantage of the chance to exceed expectations and what the result was. Explain why going above and beyond what was required of you was the appropriate decision.
Answer:
In my previous position, we added a new step to our procedure where we asked each consumer to leave a review of our service following a transaction. My directive was to send a link to the web page with our review to each consumer as soon as possible following the transaction. I personally ignore these kinds of surprise emails, so I made the decision to ask clients if they would mind if I sent them a link to our review site at the conclusion of our calls so we could get feedback on our service. Most consumers were in agreement with this, and because I had called the customer to inquire about the review, my return rate was significantly higher than that of my coworkers, who had simply sent the email without giving them any prior notice as required. Giving the customer the option of receiving the email or not involving them in the process, in my opinion. I also believed that by finishing the evaluation, they were keeping their promise to me and giving it a human touch. I did ask my manager for approval in advance because I knew that if I sent the email without getting the OK from every customer, I would be going against my management's explicit instructions. I was pleased with the successful conclusion, and my manager was pleased to give me the go-ahead to change the procedure.
