My manager in a prior position had criticism of my time management abilities. I had transitioned from a role where I only received work from my manager's team to one where I now receive work from six other team members. My boss thought I was having trouble using my time wisely. This startled me because no one on the team had ever expressed any concerns to me. On the other hand, my team's feedback was unanimously supportive. So instead of replying right away to the feedback my manager had given me, I gave it some thought. I understood that while my management was unaware of the work I was receiving from other team members, they were also unaware of the volume of work I was creating. After talking with my manager, we decided that I would start electronically documenting all of my tasks so that she could see what I was doing. I used to have a paper to-do list on my desk. I was able to demonstrate to my manager that I had solid time-management skills and found a way to let her view all of my work assignments by taking the time to carefully consider her input and then later discuss it with her.
