Canton Tower - China
Canton Tower is the second tallest television tower in the world today, located in Guangzhou province, China. The tower was started construction in November 2005 and completed in August 2009 with a total investment cost of 450 million USD. Canton Tower has a height of 610 m, including 37 floors. This is a construction consisting of a broadcast tower, a commercial center, an office, a hotel, a media center, and even a 4D cinema located at an altitude of 80 - 170 m. In the tower, there are 2 types of elevators, a slow speed type for panoramic views and a fast speed type with two floors and transparent elevators used mainly for sightseeing.
The tower was designed based on the idea of Information Based Architecture company, Amsterdam, Netherlands. This design option is quite special, the idea is simply a twisted tower, but the actual construction process is quite complicated. A high-rise tower does not carry familiar features such as straight lines, many straight lines, bringing strength, but on the contrary, there is transparency, many curves, showing softness.
Canton Tower was officially opened on September 30, 2010, serving the 2010 Asian Games. Currently, the tower is open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., depending on the area. All adults and children over 1.2 m tall can buy entrance tickets with prices ranging from 75 - 150 yuan (263,000 - 526,000 VND).
