Cascais Festival
The fishermen's association participates in this 10-day event at the Sao Joao do Estoril Beach Festival in July. You'll see a unique tournament here where the fisherman compete to impress the female spectators while confronting the galloping bulls, with the winner receiving the reward of dry codfish. Many more themed activities, particularly marine themed events, will be held throughout the day, including fireworks at night. On this day, a music festival takes place on the beautiful beaches of Carcavelos beach.
Cascais is a posh recreational and residential resort about 30 kilometers south of Lisbon. Cascais provides year-round fun and entertainment in a comfortable yet classy atmosphere, thanks to its closeness to Portugal's forward-thinking capital, its gorgeous coastline location, and its historical ties with the Portuguese Royal Family and noblemen and their families from all over Europe.
Throughout the year, the town attracts international visitors, Portuguese tourists, and weekend escapees from the capital, attracting sports fans in the winter, golfers in the spring and fall, and sun seekers throughout the long hot summer. Cascais has much to keep guests engaged regardless of when they arrive, including an events calendar jam-packed with fun and frolics.
