International Sand Sculpture Festival

The International Sand Sculpting Festival (FIESA) is the largest sand sculpture competition in the world. This is an annual international sand sculpting event that has been going on since 2003. The event takes place in Pera, Algarve, and attracts both foreign and local performers.

The FIESA event offers a different theme for sand sculptures each year. FIESA themes are based on local customs, popular culture, and mythology.

This festival has 50 colossal sculptures. Artists employ 40,000 tons of sand to build sand sculptures that cover 15,000 square meters and portray people, places, and things in amazing detail. Sculptures are lighted at night, and visitors may attend exhibitions, contests, and performances throughout the day.

The festival is one of the most famous festivals in Portugal, with a different subject each year, such as the wonders of the world or animals. You may also enjoy live music, participate in a workshop, and see the sculptures lighted at night.
