Cascata de Praia Pesqueira Waterfall

As the land of many beautiful waterfalls, São Tomé and Príncipe doesn't only have waterfalls that are famous for their natural beauty and biodiversity, but also have waterfalls that are connected to the local culture. One of those waterfalls and perhaps the most unique waterfall of São Tomé and Príncipe is the Cascata de Praia Pesqueira Waterfall.

The Cascata de Praia Pesqueira Waterfall is located in the Praia Pesqueira village in the Caué District, South of São Tomé and Príncipe. This village's population is only 201(by 2012). The scene of villagers getting water from the waterfall, washing clothes, playing, and doing everyday tasks by the waterfall makes such beautiful scenery of humans and nature being in harmony. Since the waterfall is located near a village, the road to this waterfall is not challenging at all compare to the road to other waterfalls.

Another thing that makes the Cascata de Praia Pesqueira Waterfall unique, is that it is located in the part where the river meets the sea. Because of this location, the water in the waterfall seems to have two colors: The clear water from the river, and the beautiful bluish turquoise colored water from the Atlantic sea. This sure will make a delightful sight that you can not miss.
