Vale Do Rio Waterfall
The Vale Do Rio Waterfall is a tall waterfall located 15 km away from Monte Cafe(the place where the famous Cascata Sao Nicolau Waterfall is located). This is another waterfall in São Tomé and Príncipe that is famous for being a pristine waterfall in the middle of an equatorial forest. However, aside from the beauty of nature, this waterfall is also famous for the road that leads to it.
To reach the Vale Do Rio Waterfall, tourists will have to go through a long and moderately challenging trek. This trek is around 15 km long, and the road's condition is bad, but the beautiful landscapes will make up for all the hardships. On the way, you will go through the coffee and cocoa forests, as well as some of São Tomé and Príncipe's most fascinating local villages, farms of rose and honeycomb flowers, etc. It is common for tourists to see local boys and girls selling freshly plucked cocoa and coffee in a banana leaf.
Another great thing about this trek alongside the landscape is the sound of nature. Tourists will be able to be accompanied by the relaxing and calming sounds of small water cascades, birds, monkeys, or simply the sound of the wind blowing through the tree branches, etc.
