Cascata Sao Nicolau Waterfall
The most popular and frequently visited waterfall in São Tomé and Príncipe is the Cascata Sao Nicolau Waterfall. It is a 60 meters high pristine waterfall in the middle of an equatorial forest. With its crystal clear water and the stunning forests around, as well as beautiful landscape on the way, this location is great for many activities.
The road to this waterfall is quite hard since the road's condition is quite bad. You might find some obstacles along the way, but the road is still accessible and pretty clean. But this could turn out great for you if you are looking for a chance to be closer to nature because the result of a long journey at low speed in a Jipe is the discovery of many magnificent hidden corners of the tropical paradise where you could take breathtakingly beautiful pictures.
The waterfall is nice for a perfect location for taking pictures but unfortunately is not deep enough for swimming. You can still swim at the base of the falls, though. There is a bridge over the flowing water and also a well-constructed stair into the running water under the waterfall. However, the stare is slippery so ensure your footwear isn’t the type to fail you. Cascata Sao Nicolau Waterfall has lots of shadows, so it could also be a perfect place for camping with your family and loved ones.
