Chang Gung University
Chang Gung Medical University, founded in 1987, grew to include additional departments during the next decade, eventually becoming Chang Gung University (CGU) in July 1997.
Today, this private institution is divided into three colleges: the College of Medicine, the College of Management, and the College of Engineering, each with its own set of departments. For overseas students, CGU is one of the best universities in Taiwan. Some of these departments have participated in national research initiatives supported by Taiwan's National Science Council and National Institute of Health.
The university campus is located on a 37-hectare tract of land in Taiwan's Taoyuan City's Guishan District. There are a variety of facilities on campus that allow students and employees to participate in sports, cultural and recreational activities, and other activities, as well as dorms and all of the instructional buildings.
CGU also collaborates closely with Taiwanese enterprises and companies to encourage work-study programs, and the institution has developed positive relationships with organizations like as Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and the Formosa Plastics Group. The Formosa Plastics Group Museum, in reality, is located on the CGU campus.
CGU has formed a cooperation with Arizona State University in the United States, and the two universities have collaborated to construct the Chang Gung Bioinformatics Center, which aims to prevent, detect, and treat diseases like cancer.
