City Park - New Orleans

One of the largest and most popular urban parks in the nation, City Park is 1,300 acres in size. It's no surprise that New Orleanians have visited this park for years given the abundance of attractions and stunning landscape, so let's look at just a few of them.

One specific oak tree in the area even has a history of about 800 years. These majestic, old oaks are a symbol of the region. There are countless attractions in City Park. There is definitely something for everyone here, from the vast natural space to the sporting venues. Many children have happy recollections of going to Storyland. You can't help but adore Storyland! In this enchanting location where your favorite childhood fairytales come to life, visitors can board Captain Hook's pirate ship, ride in Cinderella's pumpkin carriage, or go to the home of the three little pigs. There are only 100 wooden carousels left in the country, and this amusement park is home to the "flying horses," the only one in Louisiana. It was a mechanized carousel in 1906 after being a mule-driven one when it first opened in 1897.

If you haven't taken a walk around the sculpture garden and the New Orleans Museum of Art, your visit to City Park isn't complete. The museum, which houses over 40,000 objects and is the city's oldest institution of fine arts, is undoubtedly a hidden gem. Five acres of sculpture gardens are located around NOMA. View the more than 60 sculptures that are tucked along the lovely landscape as you stroll along the meandering trails.
