Conch Festival
Conch Festival is the most famous festival in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Every November, the Conch Festival is held - a celebration of the island's national icon, a sea snail that has for many years played an integral role in the local cuisine. At this most famous festival, local restaurants serve up their finest delights in every form imaginable in the Blue Hills, one of the original settlements on Provo. Traditional delightful dishes are always a must: conch salad, fritters, and stews. Conch Festival started in 2004 as a way to bring visitors to the Blue Hills. The strange settlement is located on the northern shore of the island further away from the more developed Grace Bay. Blue Hills Road runs along the shore, just a few steps from the sea.
This Conch Festival food festival celebrates the islands' most famous delicacy, Conch. The conch shell is also a historical symbol for the Turks and Caicos and is one of its few exports. The main events of this most famous festival include sampling delicious seafood dishes made with conch and a traditional competition blown between local fishermen. It is held the last weekend of November on the island of Providenciales.
