It turns out that the response was a resounding yes. A vibrant neighborhood of folks who enjoy whiling away the afternoon at our contemporary counterpart of high tea has been served by the burgeoning specialty coffee culture in this area, which has been sparked by Intelligentsia Pasadena and a previously established outlet for Jones Coffee Roasters.

Although Old Pasadena has a modest number of quaint cafés, Copa Vida offers a wide range of coffee and tea experiences. During the morning rush hour on weekdays, there is an honor bar serving coffee for $2.50 a cup, traditional counter service, an upscale slow-bar setting, coffee lessons, and live music performances. Did we also mention brunch? The charming Castle Green can be seen from the front half of the spotless, light-filled room, while the side room provides a more social yet intimate setting.
