CURIEUSE ISLAND
Curieuse Island is a small granitic island in Seychelles, measuring 1.13 square miles (2.9 square kilometers) and located near the north shore of the island of Praslin. Curieuse is noteworthy for its stark red earth interspersed with the unique coco de mer palms, one of Seychelles' cultural icons that grow solely on the two surrounding islands.
Curieuse Island is one of the nicest islands in Seychelles for day getaways. It's also the finest site to see a Seychelles Aldabra giant tortoise up close. Curieuse Island, formerly a leper colony, has been transformed into the world's largest tortoise sanctuary outside of the Aldabra atoll. Curieuse's tortoises are free to explore the island and are frequently spotted relaxing on the beach. It's nearly difficult not to notice them!
There are also beautiful beaches, such as Anse St. Jose, as well as magnificent nature paths through jungle and native mangrove forests. Curieuse Island is a sanctuary, thus you cannot stay there. The most popular and best method to get here is to take a snorkeling and island-hopping day cruise from Praslin. This boat journey is one of the most popular trips in Seychelles, as well as the most cost-effective and value-packed way to see this wonderful Seychelles island. You'll also have a classic Creole lunch, which includes freshly grilled fish and fruit.
