MOYENNE ISLAND
Moyenne Island (Ile Moyenne) is one of the most interesting islands in Seychelles, located in the Sainte Anne Marine Park off the coast of Mahe. It has been a flora and fauna reserve since the 1970s.
Mr. Brandon Grimshaw, the island's most notable occupant, and owner, has made it famous. This unmarried newspaper editor from England fell in love with the Seychelles Islands and chose to buy Moyenne for £10 000, where he lived until his death. During his tenure, he terraformed Moyenne Island, bringing in a variety of fruit trees and native vegetation to create his own little sanctuary. Mr. Grimshaw also introduced many Aldebra Giant Tortoises to the island, the majority of which are still there today.
When visiting Mahe, a visit to the Sainte Anne Marine Park is a necessity. Most boat tours and cruises stop in Moyenne, where you may experience life on a tiny tropical island in Seychelles. It's famous for its beaches, particularly Anse Creole Travel Services (formerly known as Anse Jolly Roger). Tourists flock to the beachside restaurant. The local warden's residence is located behind the eatery. The island is especially popular for its abundance of underwater species such as fish, sharks, and rays.
