SILHOUETTE ISLAND
If you happen to be on the shores of Mahe's Beau Vallon beach, you'll notice a steep silhouette reaching deep into the clouds. That's how the name of the following island came to be. Silhouette Island is a gorgeous paradise with a population of about 200 people. Life is simple and traditional here. For example, the inhabitants of Silhouette continue to use the same ancient agricultural methods that they did hundreds of years ago!
The island is mountainous, with five peaks rising above 500 meters (1,600 feet) in elevation: Mont Dauban (751 meters (2,464 feet), Mont-Pot-a-Eau (621 meters (2,037 feet), Gratte Fesse (515 meters (1,690 feet), Mont Corgat 502 meters (1,647 feet), and Mont Cocos Marrons (500 meters) (1,600 ft). As a result, it has some of the most spectacular scenery on the islands. Though it appears to be identical to other islands, much of Silhouette is composed of younger syenite from 63 million years ago. The only surface volcanic ash in Seychelles can be found between Point Ramasse Tout and Point Zeng Zeng.
Silhouette Island is a wild and lonely island in the Seychelles that is away from tourists. The Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa is the main spot to stay on this Seychelles island. This magnificent 5-star resort has private plunge pools, and tropical gardens, and is close to the beach. The mountain backdrops are also breathtaking, and Anse La Passe's main beach is a must-see!
