Divines (2016)

Houda Benyamina directed the 2016 drama film Divines. At the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, it was shown in the Directors' Fortnight section. Houda Benyamina won the Caméra d'Or in Cannes. The film was also an official selection in the Discovery section of the Toronto International Film Festival. On November 18, 2016, it was made available on Netflix globally.

Divines
, which was nominated for a Golden Globe, follows a youngster from a broken household in Paris who meets a young dancer who flips her life upside down. Although the narrative appears straightforward, it is far from that. Scene after scene, the characters, settings, and relationships all have remarkable power. Almost every scenario is heartbreaking, from a classroom quarrel to a daughter-mother argument. Divines is a film about surviving in a crazy world, and the characters feel very genuine. Oulaya Amamra and Déborah Lukumuena are fantastic actresses who I'm sure we'll hear more about in the future.
