I Lost My Body (2019)
Jérémy Clapin directed the 2019 French adult animation film I Lost My Body. It premiered at the International Critics' Week section of the 2019 Cannes Picture Festival, where it received the Nespresso Grand Prize, becoming the section's first animated film to do so. At the 92nd Academy Awards, the film was nominated for Best Animated Feature.
This is the first animated film to win the Critic's Week Grand Prize at Cannes in 2019, and it was also nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards, where it was defeated by Toy Story 4. As a severed hand escapes from a facility in Paris to reconnect with the body, this unique adult animated short is macabre storytelling at its best. Flashbacks tell the narrative of Noufel and his hand. The film has garnered positive reviews and is regarded as having one of the most unique and original plots. The screenplay was co-written with filmmaker Jeremy Clapin and is based on Guillaume Laurant's book, 'Happy Hand.' This incredible film is a must-see.
