Dug-Out Canoe Festival

Sports lovers will be entertained by the annual peach canoe competition on Lake Malawi, Dug-Out Canoe Festival - one of the most famous festivals in Malawi to look forward to in Malawi. Each year, the competitors are, hollow inside a tree and turn it into a canoe, then they have to race against other competitors across the sea. Tourists are encouraged to come to see and join in the fun.

The Dug-Out Canoe Festival is an epic and adrenaline-fueled race, really just for fun, bringing together eight communities from the Manda Wilderness region to battle it out across the waters of Lake Malawi. The day begins with swimming competitions for boys and girls, as the adults prepare exquisitely crafted canoes for the main event.
