Tumaini Festival
Tumaini Festival is the most famous festival of music and culture that takes place at Dzaleka Refugee Camp in central Malawi, 28 km outside Lilongwe. This is a unique and remarkable event, organized by refugees and Malawians, that has grown and grown since its first publication in 2014. It uses entertainment and artistic expression. techniques to promote intercultural harmony, mutual understanding, and peaceful coexistence.
The annual free two-day Tumaini Festival is not only a creative recreation and entertainment source for residents but also works to improve the status of refugees moving to Malawi. This popular festival is organized by 260 volunteers and sees up-and-coming Malawi artists performing alongside refugees in five event spaces, with around 7,000 patrons enjoying the food, music, art, dance, and poetry of Africa. This is the most famous festival in Malawi, and a fun and educational event for first-timers, with additional insights into camp life, offered through the new homestay program.
