Ecovacs DEEBOT N8 Pro
When it comes to the best robot vacuum cleaners, the Ecovacs Deebot N8 Pro is one of the most valuable selections. If you don't need the auto empty station, you may save $400 on the total price and pay only $700-$800 – a bargain given how efficient and feature-rich this strong robot vacuum is.
You couldn't expect much from a $800 robotic vacuum cleaner when the technology was still in its infancy. That's an absurdly low price for such a high-end product, so it says a lot that Evovcas has able to strike a fine balance between price and performance to give some high-end features at a mid-range pricing.
With the Ecovacs Deebot N8 Pro, you get the basics of smart robot vacuuming with an upgraded 2,600Pa maximum suction power, as well as improved efficiency with newly calibrated, laser-based TrueDetect 3D technology to identify obstacles with greater precision, boosting the vacuum's ability to map the home with 2x more coverage and 4x more accuracy than the previous model.
The Deebot N8 Pro's improved suction power also makes it quite good at cleaning up pet hair, so any dog or cat owner who has to deal with a regular spread of fine pet hair on hard floors should be very happy with this one.
Most of the value is driven by TrueDetect 3D technology, which gives the robotic vacuum more freedom as it navigates whatever route you've established via the Ecovacs smartphone app, which is incredibly clean and intuitive. Given that the device can overcome barriers of up to 20mm and recognize the height of steps up to 6cm, and the software can slow the robotic vacuum cleaner down as it approaches dark surfaces and objects to avoid collisions, it won't awkwardly fall downstairs. Multi-floor mapping and accurate virtual borders are unlikely to cause any problems.
Ecovacs isn't taking any chances here because design is quite uniform across all robot vacuums nowadays. It has a lovely, circular body with a raised bump for the camera module, which is used to calculate distance and mapping. The white body will show dust easily, but it is just as easy to clean.
Because the Deebot N8 Pro works with both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, it's a good idea to name your robot if you want to use it as part of a wider smart home ecosystem.
The Deebot N8 Pro's battery may be an issue for those with a bigger floor space to cover. Ecovacs doesn't specify a battery life on their website, however even if the battery capacity is enough, charging can take a long time. When the battery is low, the device is clever enough to return to its charging station, but that just means you'll have to wait a little longer for the Deebot to finish the cleaning cycle you want.
