In May 2010, Family Tree DNA launched an autosomal microarray chip-based DNA test. The new product was dubbed Family Finder. Customers may use the Family Finder to find relatives as far apart as fifth cousins. The Affymetrix microarray was the first product used in DNA testing. However, it was later superseded by the Illumina Omniexpress chip, and the results from the Affymetrix chip were retested for forwarding compatibility.
