Fennel seeds
Fennel seeds, like cumin, would work well as a substitution for coriander. If you don't have any coriander on hand, fennel is an excellent substitute. These are pale green seeds that look similar to cumin seeds but are somewhat bigger. They have a pleasant scent and a warm, delicate taste with licorice or anise undertones. Fennel seeds are frequently sold whole. And, in most cases, you will need to dry-roast them before adding them to a recipe.
This spice combines nicely with various flavors and is frequently used in spice blends, curries, and even baked products such as bread and biscuits. When substituting fennel for coriander seeds, experts advocate using the same quantity of fennel as coriander. Furthermore, if you have fennel seeds, caraway, and cumin, you may combine the three spices in equal parts to achieve a flavor similar to coriander. Fennel seeds are abundant in vitamins and have a unique flavor and scent. They have heart-health benefits, cancer-fighting capabilities, and may lower hunger.
