FIFA
Electronic Arts FIFA (previously FIFA Football or FIFA) is a series of yearly association football computer games published by Electronic Arts under the EA Sports name. As of 2011, the FIFA franchise was distributed in 51 countries and was available in 18 languages. The FIFA series, which is included in Guinness World Records as the best-selling sports video game franchise in the world, has sold over 325 million copies as of 2021. On May 10, 2022, it was revealed that EA and FIFA's association will expire after 30 years in July 2023, with the series being renamed EA Sports FC.
Football video games such as Tehkan World Cup, Sensible Soccer, Kick-Off, and Match Day had been produced since the late 1980s and were already competitive in the games industry when EA Sports announced the latest addition to their EA Sports label. When the series debuted in late 1993 on the Sega Mega Drive with FIFA International Soccer, it was remarkable for being the first to hold an official license from FIFA, the international governing body of football. Additional editions centered on single major competitions, such as the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA European Football Championship, have been added to the core series, as well as a series of football management games.
