Madden NFL

Madden NFL (formerly known as John Madden Football until 1993) is an American football video game series created by EA Tiburon and published by EA Sports. It is named after Pro Football Hall of Fame coach and pundit John Madden, and it has sold over 130 million copies as of 2018. It is also the only officially licensed National Football League (NFL) video game series, and it has impacted numerous physical sports athletes and coaches. Detailed playbooks and player statistics, as well as voice commentary in the style of a real NFL television broadcast, are among the series' features. The franchise had over $4 billion in sales as of 2013.

Trip Hawkins, the creator of Electronic Arts (EA), devised the series and approached Madden in 1984 for his support and expertise. The original edition of John Madden Football did not debut until 1988, due to Madden's goal that the game is as realistic as possible. Since 1990, EA has issued annual versions, and the series' name was changed to Madden NFL in 1993 after EA obtained the rights to feature NFL clubs and players.
