Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is a skateboarding video game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision. It was released as Tony Hawk's Skateboarding in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and portions of Europe. It was launched on September 29, 1999, for the PlayStation and was later ported to the Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, and N-Gage.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater takes place in a 3D world infused with punk rock and ska music. The player controls one of several renowned skateboarders and must accomplish objectives by completing skating feats and collecting stuff. The game has multiple modes of play, including a career mode in which the player must fulfill objectives and grow their character's qualities, a free-play option in which the player may skate without any stated purpose, and a multi-player mode featuring a variety of competitive games. All versions of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater received positive reviews, with the exception of the Game Boy Color edition, which had a mixed response.
