Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump is a comedy-drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth that was released in 1994. It is based on Winston Groom's 1986 novel of the same name. The plot follows Forrest Gump (Hanks), a slow-witted and kindhearted guy from Alabama who witnesses and unintentionally causes numerous pivotal historical events in the United States during the twentieth century.
In the United States, Forrest Gump was released on July 6, 1994, and gained lots of favorable reviews for Zemeckis' direction, performances (especially those of Hanks and Sinise), visual effects, soundtrack, and screenplay. The film was a huge box office success, becoming the highest-grossing film in America that year and earning over US$678.2 million globally throughout its theatrical run, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 1994, after The Lion King.
