The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is a 1985 American teen coming-of-age comedy-drama film written, produced, and directed by John Hughes. On a Saturday, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy play teenagers from various high school cliques who are sent to detention with their dictatorial assistant principal (Paul Gleason).
The film debuted in Los Angeles on February 7, 1985. Universal Pictures released it in cinemas across the United States on February 15, 1985. It received great acclaim and grossed $51.5 million on a $1 million budget. Critics consider it to be one of Hughes' most memorable and well-known pieces. The press called the five major characters in the film the "Brat Pack." The film was chosen for preservation in the United States National Film Registry in 2016 because it was "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant," according to the Library of Congress.
